His latest endeavor is “The Institute Presents: Neurosociety,” an art exhibition focused on neuroscience. It’s described as “an immersive theatrical experience” that will present the work of 15 cognitive neuroscience labs.
“We wanted to share these concepts with as many people as possible.”
As described in the press release, “each interaction will reveal how the brain builds a subjective measure of the world and is fundamentally guided by pragmatic concerns anchored in personal experiences.”

It’s always easier to teach directly, through music or through any form of performance. Experiential learning is inherently messier — when you don’t tell your audience how to feel about something, they’ll end up feeling every way possible.
Byrne is an avid fan of science. “I’d read about certain experiments that labs had done, and my immediate thought was ‘I want to do that,'” he says. “I want to be the subject. I want to see what that’s like.’”
Byrne and Gaonkar said in a statement, “Experiments, we feel, are a form of theater. We have adopted elements of art installation and immersive theater to present these experiences in ways we think will be as engaging for others as they have been for us."
David has never found Alice at the end of a rabbit hole, but he found "Contemporary Color" at the end of one.
“The good news is that, from what I can tell, it’s not absolutely fixed. Our biases have changed.
